This course further explores various media and techniques of drawing.
Topics include dry media, wet media, new media, and the combining use
of them. Emphasis will be on rendering skills, expressions, styles and
imaginative subject matters. There is in-depth investigation of textures,
forms, perspectives, and compositions. We may include challenging subject
matters such as glass, liquid, fabric and fur. Focus will be on composition,
architecture interior and body parts. We will touch upon the symbolic significance
of drawn imagery, including context of and relationship between objects.
More expressive techniques will be explored, such action, gesture, memory
and negative space. Selected work by artists of various periods will be
discussed. There will be in-class exercises, home assignments and group
